In an effort to further strengthen the culture of reading the Qur'an among the younger generation, the Ministry of Religious Affairs through the Islamic Studies Department earlier this year established the Tilawah Al-Qur'an Scheme for Children, STAKA, specifically for children aged 10 to 11. The scheme is among the initiatives of the Ministry to achieve the country's desire to produce more Qur'an literate generation who are not only fluent in reading, but also understand and internalise its contents, besides making the Qur'an a guide in daily life.
STAKA is a new initiative that continues with the existing Youth Qur'an Recitation Scheme, STAR to foster Quran recitation skills among children. To date, 125 students have participated in the scheme for the 2026/2027 session.
